The Germantown High School Bands hosts their own “Chamber Series” in February and features solo & small ensemble performances occurring all in a 4-station performance venue. Students perform their solos for an adjudicating judge and are critiqued and evaluated much like theSolo & Ensemble Festival.
The “Chamber Series” is an open performance. Fellow students and family members are encouraged to attend the performances.
Music Department Honors Recital
The Honers Recital concert is a yearly event that features outstanding soloists and ensembles from the Germantown High School Band and Choir Program selected by audition in March.
The GHS Pep Band plays for 8 (4 boys and 4 girls) basketball games. We have the largest and loudest pep band in Southeastern Wisconsin. Opposing coaches and referees have all commented on our effect on a basketball game.

Solo & Ensemble Festival
Germantown High School Band and Choir musicians along with students from Cedarburg, Grafton, Port Washington and West Bend gather and perform as soloists and in ensembles for the Wisconsin School Music Association festival. Tens of thousands of high school musicians throughout Wisconsin participate in WSMA Solo & Ensemble Festivals throughout the state.
Students who receive a “starred-first” rating at District quality for the State Solo & Ensemble Festival at Cardinal Stritch University in May 3th where they may earn an "exemplary status".
The Concert Winds consist of all freshmen band students. During the year students continue to build their technique and musicianship. The curricular focus of the freshmen lessons is the ability to play music in all 12 major keys, play music in complex rhythms, and increase their range in all directions. The Concert Winds also provides the music for the GHS Graduation.
Jazz Ensemble meets during 7th Hour during the second semester. It performs at the April Spring Band Concert in addition to outreach performances at Kennedy Middle School and Amy Belle school.
Music Theory/Computer Composition
The Music Theory/Computer Composition Class meets during the first semester.
The class uses computer technology to learn the theory behind music. As part of the curriculum, students will compose various music compositions with computer technology. This class is highly recommended for anyone who may be thinking of majoring or minoring in music at the college level.

Consisting of students in grades 10 through 12, the Symphonic Band performs music of medium to advanced high school caliber.
During the first semester, the Symphonic Band collaborates with the Concert Winds & Wall of Sound for Marching Band Madness and the Almost Anything Goes Show and performs at the December Holiday Band Concert (with the Germantown Community Band).
Wall Of Sound
With over 100 members and a unique sound known throughout the area, the Wall of Sound is Germantown High School's competitive marching band. The philosophy of the Wall of Sound is to perform a quality and entertaining show. Performances include competitions at Waukesha South, Cudahy, and the State Marching Band Championships at UW-Whitewater. The Wall of Sound also performs at our pre-season invitational, Marching Band Madness in September as well as field shows during the Warhawk football team home games.
Thank you to the Warhawk Band Boosters for their financial support and volunteer assistance throughout the year. Without the Warhawk Band Boosters, the Wall could not exist.
The GHS Wind Symphony consists of 50-55 of the finest instrumentalists at Germantown High School. Membership into this organization is through appointment by the GHS Band Staff in the spring of the previous year and is based on each student’s lesson preparation, musical aptitude, class involvement, leadership and behavior within the class setting.
