GHS Bands Oct. 31

Good Afternoon GHS Band Students and Families, This email will cover several things please make sure you read through and get the information. November 30. Band Concert. Our first band concert of the year is on Wednesday, November 30 at 7:00 pm in the Auxiliary Gym. The Concert Winds, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony are all performing. Dress for the concert is Black dress pants, black dress shoes, black socks, and the white GHS bands polo shirt. Freshmen who have not received their shirt will get it before the concert. Solo/Ensemble Events. Chamber Series is our “in-house” solo/ensemble festival on Feb. 8 & 9. All GHS band students are to perform something with the chamber series, whether it is a solo, duet, trio, quartet, or quintet. It is also the performance check off for the optional WSMA Solo and Ensemble Festival on March 18. The last two lessons have included suggestions for solos and this week students will be able to request any of the ensembles they wish to perform. End of the Quarter Grades This Friday (Nov. 4) is the end of the first quarter. We have been reviewing any missing work a student may have. Please review your grades in skyward to make sure you have everything completed. Battle of the BandsThis annual event is coming on December 14. The different grades should be preparing their entries and learning their music. Each grade needs to check in with Mr. Bell this week to provide an update to your performance. Instruments NeededOn Dec. 16, many of our instruments will be shipped to Rome for the band trip and will return in the week after the trip. If you have any extra instruments in your house that you would be willing to lend for that time, it would be greatly appreciated. Instruments to be shipped include, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, bari saxophone, trumpets French horn, trombone, baritone, and tuba, If you can help us out, please email me at jbell@germantown.k12.wi.us. Warhawk Band Booster General MeetingThere is a general meeting for the Warhawk Band Boosters on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Agenda items include preparing for the WSMA Solo/Ensemble Festival, Feast and Follies, Fundraising Updates, Trip Information, and wrap up of the Wall of Sound Season. Italy Rehearsals and Parades. A quick reminder that we have Italy practices on November 2, 7, 16, 28, December 5, and 12. The Germantown Christmas Parade is on November 12. The Italy Parade Band will practice at 11:00 that morning. The parade is at 2:00. We should be completely done with everything by 4:00. Italy Rooming and Flight Lists.The hotel room assignments and flight lists will be handed out at rehearsal on Wednesday, November 2. The sign up for bus seating and chaperone groups will happen later. They have not provided the size of coach bus we will use in Italy.
